Menswear - Hay Tiempo

Menswear - Hay Tiempo

So what do you do when it's all gone wrong? Well, if you're Menswear you thank your lucky stars for Japan and release a second album that is remarkably far removed from your first. Kinda middle of the road rock, with a couple of nods to their earlier days. Didn't really do much, and the band split for good soon after. But while it's not the best record in the world, I love stuff like this. It reminds us that it's a wonderfully strange world, so much so that you don't have to nip off to a parallel universe to find a second album by Menswear (though to listen to the krautrock/skiffle fusion that is third album you will, alas, have to smite the laws of physics and hope for a soft landing)

Fun Fact: Couple of sources tell me Sean O'Hagen of Microdisney/High Llamas did the strings for this.

I'm dangerously close to posting Babylon Zoo albums now, aren't I? Brrr....

i still think "daydreamer" is a great single, even if it is a massive stranglers ripoff!

It's actually a damn decent album. I'm shocked to find myself really enjoying it. Thanks for the post.
