Cha Cha 2000 - AutobahnHappy Christmas to you all. And what better way to celebrate than by posting a Kraftwerk cover. This was a 10" single from 1996, looks to be a side project from Mick Derrick and Pat Marsden of Prolapse. The cover of Autobahn is faithful enough, but using a synth that's making think of Lord Rockingham's XI Hoots Mon. Which didn't even use a synth. You'll know what I mean when you hear it. Possibly.

Haha, was only directed to your blog as I was looking for the King of Luxembourg album. We didn't actually use a synth on this it was a stylophone. The other instruments are indian banjo, bagpipes, spoons, accordian, mandolin, bodhran, indian tabla and much much more. keep up the good work
Mick (cha cha 2000 and prolapse)
More singles should make use of spoons.
Thanks for dropping by!
Will come back and look at your blog in more detail when I'm not meant to be doing a job application (!) but stumbled by here after looking at a Prolapse page.
I bought this 10" single when it came out but had no idea it was a Prolapse side project. I fell for Prolapse after hearing 'Psychotic' Now' on Radio1 and was dead chuffed to meet Scottish Mick and Linda after seeing them support Pulp at Keele Uni in 1995. Mick was getting grief from the crowd and came back with a JAMC retort!
Thanks for some great memories and hope to drop by again soon!
Thanks for this post, great to read what Mick's written. I was the Engineer on this session, and remember the Stylophone being recorded through a Marshall JCM valve guitar amp. Recorded on 16 track analogue and Bedrock Studios Leicester, which at the time was in the basement with Archway's Rehearsal rooms. (now a nightclub)
