The Young Gods - Did You Miss Me?

The Young Gods - Did You Miss Me?

Swiss industrial godfathers' second single. A Gary Glitter cover, everyone's favourite kiddy-fiddler's magnum opus turned into a one second end of the pier snapshot repeated over and over with a sinister "Did You Miss Me?" overlaid. When they make the film of Glitter's life, this one will be the soundtrack to the Vietnam sex scenes.

Next up, Crass cover Jonathan King. Possibly.

Virna Lindt - Young and Hip

Virna Lindt - Young and Hip

We'll give El a bit of a rest and look at another "concept" label in the form of the Compact Organisation. Perfect pop for young go-getters masterminded by the one and only Tot Taylor. Probably most famous for launching the career of Mari Wilson, there was many a gem to be had from the rest of their roster. Including this single from 1981 by Virna Lindt, probably my favorite Compact release and a perfect statement of intent for the label itself.

Robyn Hitchcock - Happy the Golden Prince

Robyn Hitchcock - Happy the Golden Prince

A Flexi-disc free with A Bucketful of Brains magazine in 1986, Happy the Golden Prince is....well, it's odd. Even by Mr Hitchcock standards. A little story about Happy. Happy the Golden Prince. Strangely trippy.

Been awfully busy of late, so I've been neglecting this poor old blog a bit. More updates in the week....
